BIODIVERSITY

Aspects of biodiversity
Aspects of biodiversity can be briefly summarised by
the following points:
General counterbalance between calcareous
environments (Central Apennines) and silicon
environments (northern Apennines), with substantial
duplication of vegetational typologies present in
the passageway area in two versions.
Presence of mountain areas with woods in between.
Presence of wild cherries, which enrich the
historical and economic context as well as the
ecosystem.
Presence of Turkey Oak woods.
Presence of open shrubland with fruticeti shrubs.
Presence of ponds periodically occupied by
amphibians.
Presence of perennial rivers full of rare
amphibians.
Presence of natural beech woods mixed with
hornbeamn and with abundant forest litter.
Widespread presence of heather and a real heath on
the highest parts.
Presence of ridge prairies with small lakes.

The abundant biodiversity of
Bosco di Tecchie
The territory of Tecchie is inserted within the
landscape of the Serre included in sites of
community importance and special protected zones
which interest the entire Serre system from
M.Picognola (Scheggia PG) to M.Vicino (Apecchio
PU).
The latter is included within the sites of community
interest and special protected zones.
Consequently Species of special or priority interest
can be found which are indicated in the Natura 2000
Standard Data Form which provides information about
the biodiversity of an area.
On the basis of this Data Form, habitats which
characterise an area of interest have been chosen
and the plant and animal species indicating
biodiversity have been highlighted.
The code corresponds to the NATURA 2000 code. The
symbol (*) indicates the type of priority habitats.
Following the above-mentioned trail you can admire
the landscape and observe some of the following
habitats.
