The European Tree Frog
Hyla intermedia

It is easily recognised by its globe-shaped 5 cm
long body and its bright green colouring. Another
feature is the two brown stripes which go from the
nostrils, over the eye and down along the flanks
thus separating the belly area which is smoke-grey
or a yellowish-brown and which is darker in the male
than in the female.
Another feature which is useful in the recognition
of this amphibian is the presence of adhesive discs
at the ends of the fingers which enable the frog to
climb trees and bushes with agility. This is however
a feature which may only be found in adults, in fact
juveniles prefer to spend their time near the ground.
